What it's like to live here.

The Alameda/Arroios spine is where most of our students end up — and where most stay for a second year. São Jorge de Arroios sits between two metro stations that genuinely matter: Alameda (red + green interchange) and Arroios (green), so you can be at IST in five minutes on foot or out at Cidade Universitária in fifteen without changing line. Roma-Areeiro train station is a ten-minute walk if you commute to NOVA SBE Carcavelos.

The streets are wide and shaded, the squares are full of benches, and the everyday infrastructure is unfussy and good. There are three Pingo Doce supermarkets within ten minutes of most of our flats, a Continente Bom Dia on Avenida Almirante Reis, and a Mercado de Arroios that runs Tuesday to Saturday. For coffee that isn't a chain, Hello, Kristof on Praça das Olarias and Fábrica Coffee Roasters on Almirante Reis are the standards. Zenith does the brunch the Erasmus crowd queues for; the older, calmer move is a bica at Pastelaria Versailles up the road.

Food gets specific here. Cantinho Lusitano for petiscos, Ramiro for prawns when your parents visit, the Bangladeshi places along Almirante Reis when it's Wednesday and you're broke. Cinema São Jorge for late films, Gleba bakery for sourdough, a half-dozen yoga studios within walking distance.

Rent-wise this is the median band of our inventory — expect around €450 to €700 per room depending on flat size and street. The newer-build flats nearer Alameda price slightly above; the older townhouses around Rua Pascoal de Melo and Rua Cidade da Horta sit closer to €450.

Best fit: the student or young professional who wants to live in central Lisbon without paying Príncipe Real prices, who walks to class, and who likes a neighbourhood with a real Tuesday-night rhythm rather than a tourist one.
